It Is All About Love
The more I study, the more I learn, the more I understand that it is all ultimately about Love... it is Love that is what we are here to learn, it is Love that is what we are here to share, help me to learn more about Love.
Share what you know about Love and how to make it something that emanates from your life. This Topic is much deeper than you may think... I write this with a tear in my eye, there is so much to show, so much to do, so many that need Love.
Take your time, think about it.
I appreciate this topic, JB. It was not, I am embarrassed to say, until I was learning about the Near-Death Experience that I really understood the magnitude of the word. I believe that in most modern cultures our usage of the word love has been so polluted by society and movies and television, etc. We do not really understand what a pure emotion it is.
It is the first feeling of movement a mother feels when life grows within. It is all-encompassing and fulfilling at once. It is the source of everything! Without love, we have nothing. It is ultimately love that helps us understand the horrible things that happen in this world. It is -- beyond words for me.
I can't agree more with JB. It chokes me up when I try to imagine the hugeness of love.
The more love we feel for others, the more Christlike we become. He showed us a perfect love through the atonement. When we love others with all our hearts, we can feel a small portion of what He feels for us. God will actually bless us with the ability to feel love, if we ask Him to. Not all people are equally loveable. I've experienced resentment and dislike for someone, and then knelt and prayed that I would learn to love that person. My prayer was answered and it's amazing to me, because I know I would not have been able to feel love for this particular person on my own. To me this testifies that I can do nothing without God's help.
The most effective way to gain love is to learn it from someone who is full of it. In 1st John 4:19 John states concerning Heavenly Father, "We love him, because he first loved us." Three verses before this he stated that God is love. Get close to the Father and create a strong relationship with him by stretching out to him. He will come to you. You will feel his love. Talk to him of your concerns. Hear and accept his council. Talk to him of people and why he does things and how things are and why. You will come to know of his love for all mankind. You will come to feel it. Your love for him will grow and love will swell in you. It takes a lot of work to understand things of eternity (what some may term "mysteries"). But all this will work together for your growth in this area of love. Come to love God more and you will come to love your fellow man more.
As a fairly new member of this church, I am still learning the magnitude of "Christ-like Love." I have always loved, my family and friends and my husband, but when you are a member or become a member of this church, there is a different love that you gain and are given the chance to experience. I feel my heart melt when a child sings "I am a child of God" or when I listen to an 80 year old member bare his/her testimony. Your heart and mind are filled all over again with a burning love for them, yourself, what you stand for, your Heavenly Father, and most importantly, our Savior. Love is something so real and so strong. I was afraid to love once in my life, but since I have joined this beautiful church, I love everyone so much. It's as if we are a huge family with different last names!
