TASTE BUDS TO BRAIN, HOW YOU REACT TO FOOD IS COMPLEX
Woe to those who have a cold on Thursday. If you can't smell the roasting turkey, it just won't taste as good.

I like to think that the taste buds to the brain is a complex system. I lost my ability to taste food after the 1991 Gulf War. Now everything I eat is like eating plain bland oatmeal. I can taste hot and spicy stuff as the spices cause a nice burning sensation in my mouth. I like that at times. Drinks just taste wet. It is dangerous for me as I can eat bad food and get sick easy. I just let my family tell me if something does not taste correctly. I am glad I have a caring family to help me out.
The average lifespan of a human taste bud is ten days.
