JB , price rises and inflation are not the same thing...

I am well aware of text book Economics and the definitions, but as a foreigner I do not expect you to get the deeper message of what I am saying, because regardless of terms / definitions and text books we have an end result (poverty, loss, depression, increased crime, and so forth) that is my point hence I kept using MAN ON THE STREET examples, whereas you keep speaking about US currency / central bank / government and so forth - we are on two levels here. I am in Trinidad. It is SO typical for people abroad to come here and explain to us that the same happens everywhere else, how the hell do they know if they do not even live here. They do the same as you on the TT Crime Board. Crime is everywhere they say - bologna. You live on ground zero and fight this war and then you can talk. Trinidad Economics 101.

Trinidad economics 101 that is a laugh. Is that a new course you started JB? There are two points raised here. One LRD is making I understand, it is how economics work in general as the government supposedly manages money, however, JB is trying to emphasize some grass roots thinking as how the average Joe sees it, I understand that too. I do worry that things are going to be even higher and those struggling are going to feel it more than those we consider 'rich'. Right now I don't see much going on to stop the runnaway heated economy.

No lady, just telling it as it is from ground zero. As I stated in the first Post within this Thread the subject matter is this...
QUOTE (JB)
What do you think about the current Inflation rate? [..] I will also say that the Consumer, yes, the man on the street spends his dime the same as if there were no Inflation at all.

Thus here are my thoughts about Inflation and the people's reaction to it which is what I have been talking about all along. Being HERE I can tell you what the man on the street says and does because I SEE it everyday. I don't need to read a text book or look up a definition for that! rolleyes.gif.

That these things happen everywhere is abundantely evident from history and current world events.

You sound just like a Trinidadian, are you?

In my opinion, it is silly to say it happens everywhere when the way inflation affects the average Joe here it's not the same way the average Joe is affected in Europe or the US.

No I am a Brit, honest.

I am just saying that these economic events have occured everywhere at different points in time. Not that they are the same everywhere today.

However, I can assure you the US and UK economies are deterioting as we speak, hard times and poverty are coming to the western world.

LRD, you still not getting the point. The kind of poverty the US or the UK face cannot even start to be compared to the poverty here or any other South American Nation, do you understand? Hence, whether the inflation happens everywhere or not, it impacts nations like Trinidad in an absolutely different manner. In few words, that these economic events have occurred everywhere at different points in time is irrelevant.

LDS, I have made no such comparisons? I have been talking about economic fundamentals which exist no matter where you live.
