JB , price rises and inflation are not the same thing... |
Trinidad economics 101 that is a laugh. Is that a new course you started JB? There are two points raised here. One LRD is making I understand, it is how economics work in general as the government supposedly manages money, however, JB is trying to emphasize some grass roots thinking as how the average Joe sees it, I understand that too. I do worry that things are going to be even higher and those struggling are going to feel it more than those we consider 'rich'. Right now I don't see much going on to stop the runnaway heated economy.

QUOTE (JB) |
What do you think about the current Inflation rate? [..] I will also say that the Consumer, yes, the man on the street spends his dime the same as if there were no Inflation at all. |
QUOTE |
(JB) It is SO typical for people abroad to come here and explain to us that the same happens everywhere else, how the hell do they know if they do not even live here. |
QUOTE (LRD @ 27-Jun 08, 11:21 AM) |
That these things happen everywhere is abundantely evident from history and current world events. |
No I am a Brit, honest.
I am just saying that these economic events have occured everywhere at different points in time. Not that they are the same everywhere today.
However, I can assure you the US and UK economies are deterioting as we speak, hard times and poverty are coming to the western world.
LRD, you still not getting the point. The kind of poverty the US or the UK face cannot even start to be compared to the poverty here or any other South American Nation, do you understand? Hence, whether the inflation happens everywhere or not, it impacts nations like Trinidad in an absolutely different manner. In few words, that these economic events have occurred everywhere at different points in time is irrelevant.
