Addictions

There are many gospel-centered books dealing with addictions. Whether the problem may be pornography, drugs, overeating, etc.
In most cases for members, there is a tendency to do the "commit the sin, repent, be good for a while, commit the sin again, repent, be good for a while, fall again", etc. thing.
Is there anyone here that has personally seen someone conquer an addiction, or an addictive behaviour? And if so, then how, and what Gospel-centered methods did they use?

I have done it. Prayer was the key, along with a program given to me by a couple of sister missionaries. And kicking the habit was the major final step that propelled me out of the abyss. It's great to be free!

I too overcame several addictions, and like FarSeer I used prayer, and the church's addiction recovery program. (essentially a modified 12 step program). Both have been essential and extremely useful in my recovery.
