I have been thinking about creating just one great Skin rather than have 12 Skins to update...

One Great Skin - Page 2

I am looking at this again. I am torn between having done so much work between the Skins and just having one that is easy to maintain.

Which should I do?

I was thinking that maybe I can facilitate having parts of the Skin customizable so that the User still can have a level of control over how certain parts of the Skin looks, but the general layout for everyone would be the same.

JB, I think you should have ONE skin for everybody, it will save you a lot of work and you will know exactly where is everything without wondering which skin has what and so on, it will also help when somebody cannot find a particular feature, anyone would be able to answer, also by sharing a common skin, everybody will feel even more part of the "family"...since we all will be the same. wink.gif

It is just a matter of the existing members getting used to the new skin and the ones that join will not know the difference. Just my two cents.

One Great Skin Feedback & FAQ News Community

Yes, I know that, this is more about being sentimental really. When you consider all the work that has gone into each Skin and then to just scrap it in one go it can feel like defeatism, but I guess I need to look at it as progress. Now I have to think of the one look I do want...

I was thinking of either:

1. Futuristic with soft tones
2. Classy, using a Medieval layout
3. Spunky, using exciting colors and flavors

I would like to see something with soft tones, it may go well with all type of people and keep it simple. Exciting colors may not be something older folks may want to see. *shrugs* Remember that colors have a great impact on people, you want them to come to a relaxed community.

Rather off topic, but...

Did you say "sentimental"? spock.gif I never thought I would hear those words coming from the Architect. Sounds like an anomaly in the program. *wink*

Well, I am going with pastel colors for sure, the icons themselves may have the brilliance to it.

Hmmm...that depends. Would we be able to pick and choose the color of the background. Different people have different sensitivies. I can't handle the all white background, whereas some people may not be able to handle the purple-ish color of the medieval that I use. I know some websites have that set up where you can change the colors.

That's understandable, nevertheless the point for the new skin is to give less work for the admin.

One Great Skin Community News FAQ & Feedback - Page 2

I am going with the BLUE version of what was once our only Skin: the Red Default Skin. So basically this Skin will fit every need. It will have some dark tones and no bright white, but yet light enough to read.

In addition to this the newest feature will be a drop down control panel enabling any link to be selected on the fly! No need for site map or wondering where a link is located.
