Married to a Psychic

I am right now watching the TV series "Medium" in the background and I have come to the conclusion that I do not think I could remain married to someone who was constantly envisioning the grossest crimes and the criminals who commit them - could you?

Why is it that these psychics have only horrid visions? Why can't they see something joyful and beautiful happening?!?

I think the problem I would have with being married to a psychic is that they could read my thoughts

I don't think Psychics / Mediums claim to read thoughts. I believe they just foresee possible future actions by someone or things from the past based on visions, paranormal activity or spirit visits. As I understand it they the assistance in most cases of those who are past on in order gather information.

With regards to beautiful thoughts, I think they must have these too, but I am guessing that most times people wish to acquire the services of Psychics to find out what happened in terrible situations rather than pleasant ones... therefore they are most often seen in this way.

For many governments to admitantly use their services to solve cases one must deduct that genuine Psychics are really good at what they do, however being married to one would put me on edge.

First of all, these people do not choose to envision these horrible things. What happens is that they have a gift and as JB mentioned the families of persons who may have been killed or kidnapped for instance need their assistance to solve the case and know exactly what happened to their loved ones. Genuine ones will use that gift to help people and I think is a wonderful thing.

I would definitly stay married to a Psychic, because I believe he has a gift and is using it for the benefit of humankind, to divorce him on the grounds I could not take all the things he envisions would be like not only blaming him and his gift but also it may cause him to believe his gift is actually a curse. (I know that's debatable).

I would definitly stay married and support him.

LDS_forever, easily said. You would of had to of seen this one episode of Medium to know why I came to this conclusion. Just imagine your spouse at keeps getting up several times talking about horrid things. Then when you get up to see what they are doing you find them reenacting the events or going through a ritual of terrible events that occurred like a murder, rape, abuse, etc. It is not only difficult to hear, but to watch makes you feel like the 'evil' is being brought into the house continually.

Now on top of all the above add the element of your children watching this on a daily basis and then you may begin to wonder what you do.

JB, you are adding things now. Now you are saying the person not only envisions these things but reenacts these horrible cases, that's a totally different story. I am not sure, if I could handle them specially for the sake of my children.

Yes, I neglected to further describe what I meant by 'envisioning'. I do not know if each genuine Psychic receives their information in the same manner though. It could be that some Psychics may receive it all and keep it to themselves without any physical signs? However, when you think of the gross level of some of the mysterious crimes they see you have to wonder how that could not affect your whole countenance.

I think it depends on the Psychic's abilities. Rosemarie Kerr for instance can not only envision the whole ordeal of the person but also feel the pain the victim went through and she didn't start helping people but after she was married with four kids (we have a thread about her on this board)

My point is that has a lot to do with how supportive a husband or wife is willing to be since the psychic cannot help envisioning these things.
