Tax his land,
Tax his wage,
Tax his bed in which he lays.

Tax his tractor,
Tax his mule,
Teach him taxes is the rule.
Tax his cow,

Tax his coat.

Tax his ties,
Tax his shirts,
Tax his work,
Tax his dirt.

Tax his tobacco,
Tax his drink,
Tax him if he tries to think.

Tax his beers,
If he cries,
Tax his tears.

Tax his bills,
Tax his gas,
Tax his notes,
Tax his cash.

And there was prosperity, absolutely no national debt, the largest
middle class in the world, and Mom stayed home to raise the kids.

Ouch! How very true and sad. I get a secret kick out of beating the sales tax by buying things online. Not much benefit though, compared to all the taxes I end up paying in other ways.

True, but even California has what's called the "use tax" - even if you buy online or from another state and bring it to California to "use," you have to pay tax. Of course, it's difficult for them to enforce, but sooner or later it will happen that any company that sells/ships to California will have to report it to the Board of Equalization (tax agency). Either we'll pay the sales tax when we purchase, or the state will bill us. Ain't it grand?
