Helvecio Martins
Did you know that Helvecio Martins was the first black member of the Church to serve in a Stake Presidency?
Yes, and one of his sons was one of the first three black males to serve a mission after Elijah Abel (more than 100 years passed!)
Elder Martins also drop school when he was 12 to help his family and finished high-school at the age of 26. He then continue studying and graduated from college and made post-graduate courses.
A year before he died, (at age 74) he graduated from law school. He was one of the most successful people in Brazil and a very humble man.
