Council seeks details on boy's fall into hot pool
Despite a boy suffering extensive burns after falling into a geothermal pool in a Rotorua park, Rotorua District Council says it cannot make changes to prevent further accidents unless a complaint is made.

This is a tragedy! The parents need to make a complaint to ensure that the park makes changes to keep this from happening again! That must be so hard. Those poor parents! I can't even imagine what they are going through.

There are fences around all the hot pools to prevent people from accidently falling into a pool. A inspection of the fences showed no damage to any part of the fences. I take that as to mean the boy climbed over a fence and then somehow ended up in a hot pool. I think the parents need to keep a better eye on their kid. OR they were encouraging him to do this so they could sue the city. Either way this child did not have to die.
Hmm... I must have missed the part about the fences. You're right, if the parents had been paying more attention, the child probably wouldn't have fallen into the pool in the first place. People these days will sue for just about anything, but the parents should definitely realize their mistake and know that the child is their's, and therefore, their responsibility.
A horrible thing to have happen to a family, but all the pools were fenced.
It at times makes you feel that in some cases you just can not protect people all the time, I mean fences are there to keep things in or out.
Sad but if a person is going to do something silly then they will do it signs or not.
I have to agree with that. People are going to see the signs and the fences and ignore them just as this family and child did. I just hope the memory of this boy dying from burnes he received from the pools will keep some out for a while.
