Are You A Cheapskate?

Embracing Your Inner Cheapskate

For Lauren Weber, saving money is an obsession. A self-declared "cheapskate," Weber says she eats old food discarded by restaurants, washes out and reuses plastic bags -- even digs through the trash to save money. Ref. Source 8

Cheapskate You Are

Whenever you start searching through garbage just to save money then you need a therapist. I wouldn't call that frugal at all.

Some folks confuse frugality with stupidity. Frugality would indicate you purchase a cheaper detergent to wash your clothes for instance and stupidity would use the same water with the same soap of one of the loads to wash the rest of your clothes. rolleyes.gif

Well I recently limited drinking from all the time to work get togthers and social events, and stopped going to the clubs on the whole. I mean the cost of the duties on imported alcohol has risen by 30%. Now I dont even know the cost of the alcohol that I consume on the rare occasions, because I simply do not pay for it anymore

Cheapskate You Are

I saw a documentary once that talked about how a lot of restaurants throw away good food just because customers won't buy it the next day. A lot of homeless people show up for that and I wouldn't call them like cheapskates or anything like that. Eating old food can be poisonous too Digging thorugh garbage even worse! People's pit, hacks, needles, condoms and diseases are in there.

There is a difference between being frugal and being cheep. Being frugal means you shop for the lowest price, clip coupons, and so on. Being cheep, on the other hand, means that you sacrifice your safety or health, to save money, like reusing one-time use items, like paper towels, or eating only roman noodles, or macaroni and cheese to save money on food.

However it should be mentioned that generic and store brand food, use the SAME factories as the Brand foods, a lot of the time, there is little, to no, taste difference between the two, I should know, I"ve tasted several store brand foods, and they taste the same as the big guys. One reason for this, is that, they all get their base foods from the SAME source, FARMS! I live in Idaho, and in Idaho, we are famous for potatoes, during potato harvest, guess what they look for, as the best potato, it's looks. I"ve tasted both the potatoes that have past the test, and the ones that have not, and guess what, they taste the SAME!

Are You Cheapskate

Buying unprepared foods and doing the work your self does save money packaged food is costly and usually not as tasty.

I do think this lady has an addiction! Eating clams 7 years past due and taking food from garbage is not a normal sane choice for one who does not live on the street or is starving to death. I hope some one can get her to change that life style.
