2007 Celebrations Early To Avoid Church Conflict

In order to avoid breaking the Sabbath, the Church is sponsoring First Night festivities on Saturday the 30th, with a fireside for youth with President Gordon B. Hinckley taking place Sunday.

QUOTE
The countdown for the New Year is just a few days away now. And depending on where you live, that countdown may come a little early this year.

There is a good time to be had all weekend in Utah. Because New Year's Eve lands on a Sunday, some cities are holding their celebrations Saturday night. So, you can chose.

In St. George and Provo organizers are moving their New Years celebrations to Saturday. This will be the first year Provo's celebration will be inside. That will be at the Provo Towne Centre Mall.

In Dixie, First Night St. George is on historic Main Street and will include 24 venues.

Organizers felt that turnout at the event would be much better on Saturday rather than Sunday. They see the event as the party before the party, giving southern Utah twice as much fun and opportunity this year...
