I do not recall people panicing over this piece of ice so I am guessing that it did not pose a danger for the shipping lanes. I hope that it went back up to the arctic to reattach itself to other ice.

Artic Ice Coming Your Way History & Civil Business Politics

Scary part to me is I think we are just going to see more of this as time goes on. I hope the large ships are able to avoid them. Might give some boost to tourism in the areas it passes. I am sure people would pay to go and see it in a boat.
