Plastic or Glass

When it comes to storing any kind of food do you prefer to use glass containers or plastic containers?

Glass Plastic

I have to say that I prefer glass containers. Glass seems to keep food fresher longer. This may not actually be true but it makes me feel better about reheating something that I have stored for a few days. I have noticed however that recently I have started using more and more plastic containers. Maybe that is because all of my glass containers are still full of food and sitting on the back shelves of the fridge. I guess that is a reminder that I need to do something about the leftovers that I keep. Trick with that is Cherry does not eat leftovers so I have grown out of the habit myself. We waste so much food sometimes it isn't even funny. I think I throw out enough food to comfortably feed two more people. That is really sad isn't it.

I prefer plastic containers for storing food, mainly because it's easier to stack without having to worry about any weight pressure on glass.

Also, most plastic containers I find, seem to have better fitting lids, which helps the food stay fresher (in my opinion)

I do prefer glass but getting good glass containers is getting harder. I use old jars for dry goods as they are air tight. Plastic is porous and moisture leaches in.

In the fridge we tend to more plastic as we do not keep things long in there. health wise no plastic should ever be brought into your home after all you are eating from a oil can.

I use a lot of plastic storage containers in my left overs. I have sound that they go very nicely from the refrige to the microwave for reheating. The plastic does not melt and it microwave and dishwasher safe. So clean up is a breeze too.

I always use plastic containers to store food in the refrigerator. The plastic containers are always the right shape to be stacked in the fridge, they wont shatter when they slip out of your hands after getting them out of the fridge, and they have air lock seals. The plastic containers are portable and can be taken to work or on the road without you worrying about someone breaking them.
