Traveling around the world is something that I would love to do later in life when my kids are grown and out of the house and I am more financially secure. I noticed only one of these routes is in the US, which means I will need to travel quite a bit to see all 10 of them. The Pacific Coast Highway in New Zealand seems most appealing to me.
Maybe it's just me, but only 3 of these places appealed to me,and I only live a couple of hours drive away from one of them.
The Amalfi coast in Italy appeals to me the most, but one of the places that I have always wanted to visit, that isn't listed is Hong Kong, I don't know why I've always wanted to visit there, but would like to sample the culture.
As this is very expensive, I think for the next decade or so it will remain just a dream!
Never mind, I can always nip off in my car to the Yorkshire Dales!
I think wherever you live in the world there is real beauty to be found, it's just a matter of personal opinion as to which places are more desirable to you.
Here is one that is somewhat secluded. It's called Utah Highway 12. This meandering two lane highway, goes to Byrce Canyon National Park, through Dixie National Forest, several state parks, Grand Staircase-Esclante National Monument, and Capitol Reef National Parks. On this highway, you will see canyons, mountains, waterfalls and the really crazy "trick" sections like the bend in Dixie National Forest around the mountain where you get to see the valley from a mile and a half up. Or the really crazy Hogsback section in Grand Staircase-Esclante National Momument, where the highway twists on a narrow ridge surrounded by canyons and concludes by desceding 1500 at 10% grade, so much you can see the highway below, which is so surreal.
