OPTICS BREAKTHROUGH COULD SPEED INTERNET, RESEARCHERS SAY
A new technique for fashioning optical material could turbo charge the internet and communication networks to even faster speeds, according to a team of scientists from three research facilities.

Internet Speed Breakthrough Optics
Well, I'm still waiting on fiber to the home. All this extra speed only helps when you can actually get those speeds to the home, and for the most part, you can't due to cable and dsl restrictions. I would love to have this new fiber be routed to the home and have simply psychotically fast downloads and uploads.
