Thank you Klar I was also glad I was there that week even if it was my holidays. He died the first Sunday I was there. It was a crazy week wedding 200 people towing cars in and out through mud holes on the farm and driving in for them so they did not get stuck on the first Saturday then Sunday my aunt's 50 year anniversary. Then the funeral stuff. I will never figure out how we even managed to get the fishing and beach timed fitted in there.

Last year My uncle funeral I think I might changed the time I have in August for vacation to July! Seriously though was sure glad I had the time off to be there.

Yes sometimes it is hard to believe what we can fit into a week of vacation. I am glad you were able to enjoy some time on your vacation.

Logged on and hit to see the hottest topics, only to be met with the word sucks in almost every line.

To be honest I was a tad stunned as to why sorry I think you missed on that set of titles though I know it is an emotional word to draw people to the threads. Just not sure it really fit the image I had of the site some how. Well off to say why home improvements are painful for me.

Yes, it is not the best of words, doesn't that 'suck'? The point is there is the same ole, same ole on a huge site and the content is being wasted really because we need to attract more than agreeable and opinion based conversation. If we remain with our current trend we will just have a few of the faithful, but we need to go beyond the 'few faithfuls', so we are using more tactics to hopefully pull in others who are just looking (we actually get thousands of lookers per day), to actually participate, maybe it will kick emotion. It is just a phase, it will not be here forever, do not worry about it.

Interesting krakyn, I never thought the word "suck" as bad really but more of a word that teens seem to use a lot. Again, English is my second language so the power of certain words do not have the same impact as if it was my native tongue.

Today by the modern standard it is far from a bad word as a child it would have been dish soap time. Anything that was not proper English revived much of the same creation from adult back then.


Jb I know you are trying hard to get people to stick when the bump across, wish I had some great ideas on that. Other then give all away for free, tactics like this might help.

It is the 20's crowd that need to come aboard to really make the site thrive.

Just looked real strange because they were all lined up in a column.

Actually, I know the answer to that, but I have spent years stopping it, and will not allow it, hence we have 13 other Communities. If I really wanted a bang I would have to:

1. Loosen the rules to allow Posts without care for grammar or off topics
2. Lower the age limit to 13
3. Not require Introductions
4. Open up public mature talk
5. And lastly and most importantly... allow link signatures and open ads (this one alone will bring in drones).

None of those I am doing. I am trying to attract people, but NOT quantity I am trying top attract quality Posters because what is posted here is shown on a wider network. Everything done here has double meanings. For instance "suck" may seem like a teeny bopper word, but it also enlists a group of adults who are rebel thinkers and are attracted to Discussion by it based on certain things I cannot go into detail here.
