Krakyn Introduction - Page 43

Finished my fireplace stone work and My winter project is looking like finishing up the basement. This is good as we had a 5 year plan and we are closing in on year 5.

Yes we need to actively seek recruits Klar I have been debating a recruitment contest.

Full credit to my wife she is the decorator if it were me rocks and trees would be strongly present. I just try to install. I can not recall if I ever posted picture her of the house when I bout it. I do not think I did. Just the gardens and out side.

Might be fun to post before and after pics. I will try to night to find them and take some. Our basement is ripped apart so try to find is a real key here.

Introduction Krakyn

So, krakyn ::innocent smile:: When you're done over there in the basement, I have a project or two on my house needs doing... Nothing major, of course. Just new flooring in the kitchen and both baths, painting the entire interior, fixing the leaky roof, and changing out all the old single-pane windows with insulated, double-pane. Several plumbing leaks, minor ones, under each sink in the house and the washtub sink out in the garage overflows with black sludge now and again. Oh, and did I mention the electrical? Couple of motion-sensor lights outside, a timer for the porch light. And somewhere in the middle of all that is the outside concrete work in the yard and garden.... And those are just the things I know about.

It will probably take me 10 years to do it all myself smile.gif

Krakyn Introduction

Make you a deal you remove all furniture pay to get the roof done and I will come for six weeks. You need about 15 to 20 000 cdn if done here to I do not know what at your end.

In that time I can give you all painting, plumbing, flooring done oh I refuse to install carpets so it is laminate or hardwood. Yes including the bathrooms. I work 12 hour to 16 hour shifts.

You need an air compressor and nailing gun (under 200 on sale Canadian tire or sears)

I will need access to one to three strong backs for the windows and if I have that we can do the roof though cost wise might be as cheap to pay for it done. I paid 300 above my cost to have my roof done professionally.

Would love to help you out if I could. Nice part is when I was done you would know as much as I do. *evil grin* I make the owner help when I do not charge and I never charge!

Remember though if I say I can do it it does not mean I have done it before it just mean I can figure it our on the fly. Took my wife 8 years to figure that one out.

Now she asks do you know how to do that? I really hate that question. Our home depot has a ladies night they cover all construction projects and it is for ladies only.

The sink all you need is a snake and drill it in until it either hit something it can not pass through or removes a big chunk of goo. Messy but easy enough to do.

Wow, krakyn, you're my dream date smile.gif

Actually, I have already invested in a "do-it-yourself" book from Home Depot and a DVD that show us clueless ones how to do these minor things, step by step. Flooring I already know how to do, because I did that for a living for a few years. Windows and roof? Well, those will have to wait, as they are the most expensive things.

It's just going to take some time. Oh, and money, right? One thing at a time, and I have all the time in the world. Just have to decide where the money goes first!

Farseer I am glad you are wiling to rise to the occasion. I would how ever advise a leaky roof it highest priority. Water is a vile evil creature that slides every where leaving mold as its evidence.

Ask around the church you might get lucky and some nice men will step up and do the labor if you can supply a nice hot meal or three. I shall pray on this.

if you can I would rip out the baseboards prep the wall then paint and do the flooring after. Baseboards depend on type of flooring you replace with.

The Home depot book is actually pretty decent also online there are tons of help and advice once a specific task is selected.

Windows I bet if your dig out the old caulking and redo them it would help a lot. Also if the windows frame around the panes is in god shape re caulk them as well. Might buy you a few years for very little money. If the window ledge sill is rotten do fix it as water will cause much damage in a few months time. You can cut the old one out and slide in a new one where the rot is and it will get you a few more years on the old window.

Remember if they don't find ya hansom then ye better be handy! Well in this case being beautiful and handy is even better!
