Introduction Krakyn

I found hard copies of the pictures when we bought but still looking fo rthe electronic ones. It was shocking to say the least. My wife upon seeing them again asked me retell me why we bout this house it was a dump!

I just laughed and waved my hand and said this is why. Funny how people get locked into the cosmetics and fail to see the structure for what it is.

I have pictures of my house before we moved in -- not in *horrible* shape, or anything, just old, and the "bones" are good. They still knew how to build them solid back in the 60's.

The kitchen floor was the first thing I ripped out! Terrible old VCT tile that was crumbling to the touch and filthy. Yuck. Took just a couple of hours of tapping with the hammer and a putty knife, as a lot of the adhesive was just gone... so old! The floor under is particle board (nasty stuff), so I will have to treat it before installing something new.

I'm going to learn a LOT from this place.

Be glad the adhesive was done it can be a pain other wise. Do remember to wear a mask with this stuff it can be nasty. Just particle board wow I would have thought plywood. Depending on what you put over it it really does not matter.

I am sure you will know a great amount when you are done. I know I have learned a ton!

Indeed a very kind offer I shall have to ask the delivery guy how he feels about it. Sorry the dumpster guy left already so you might have to find you own garbage bin.

Well the gutters are on the roof done but I am having issues with how they installed the skylight. The old one was 3.5 inch longer and 1.5 wider so what did the roofer do stick it to one corner and there is no framing under the front and left side of the skylight.

Called in the boss man and he is whining as I have not made payment yet...gee I ponder why. He goes and looks at and starts cursing a red streak. I do not know if it was for show or not but I think they maybe less one roofer now. He promises right after the holidays he will be back pull it up and recenter it with proper framing. He thought the same as me pretty simple a 2x4 on each side and a 4x1 on the other sides. A nice centered window that would let me place finishing trim on it and look like it might actually belong there.

Then to top that off smart metering is kicking into high gear and might remove 50% of my current job over the next ten years. Good news they posted a journeyman's position in the lobby for which I am qualified. Hard part is it involves on call once a month for a week at a time. My wife works evening and that means who can I find to look after a 6 and 10 year old during that week if I happen to get called out. So this now puts pressure that is so unneeded at this time on my wife to see how we can have some one home to cover the kids. She has been talking of going to take some courses so perhaps this is our cue to push her through it and into a better paying day job.

It equates to a 5000 drop in pay for a year then back to present and the following year 5000 ahead plus on call of ball park 20 000 annually. I think in the long run we will be better off but short term will be rough. For her she will increase her ages signifigantly also by the end. If I can get the job it would start spring and likely be a year before I am fully trained for on call. Have to look at the course she is taking and see when she can get in.

We are praying on it to see if it is what Gods desires also.
