I could have done that good a job on the Skylight had I known it was a stick and go job.

As far as the job goes I would take it. You will have about a year before your on call perhaps that makes the kids a little older and another year for your wife to get some schooling and be ready with perhaps a new well paid day hour job. That would end the debate about what to do with the kids.

Good luck on it all and remember to keep your stick on the ice.

WOW I must admit I never once suspected this would happen. So thanks to all that have enjoyed my ranting and ravings here! I shall have to donate that fp to one of the areas so as to pay back the honor received.

I hope every one enjoyed honoring Christs birth and bringing in the new year. I have not seen so many of my family and friends in a long time so for me it was very nice even had two days just with my boys cleaning house and playing out doors.


It was great with snow across the lands for the Christmas day every where I went then the weekend hit. It brought three days of rain and green grass, we lost about 6 feet of snow in 24 hours it was massive flooding in the south up north the pond and swamps seem to have returned to normals levels wich is good. We now need a cold snap say -20 to drive the frost dep followed by snow which then will last the winter and water the crops in the spring.

Now the children back to school and normalcy sets in I have to make some thoughts on my job. A new opportunity to expand my field is in view and looking like no contenders. Only issue is being on call and cost of having some one at my beck and call that I can depend on to look after the boys. I can clear 170 or so in standby by pay that week but need to find some one who would accept that for 5 nights over watching my boys from 4 to midnight till my wife can e home. I will be at home 80% of that time most likely but if a wind storm hit I could be out all night. In two years my wages will jump 30 k a year it is a huge difference. So I must pray for my guider to show me my true path and find the urge to jump on this.

I'll take the job. Just carry my laptop and continue working while waiting for your wife to come home, and getting money at the same time, sounds good to me.

Wish you were closer I would take you up on it. many would but few are to be trusted to be there when required. We give and give of our time for friends and family but repayment seems to be not as freely given. I do what I do as it is good and right, but my wife gets soured on it fast. I am waiting on a few professional services to contact me and get a price. As long as the cost is less then the standby by pay and a few hours work I will be OK with the switch. I just hate to be our 300 a month with no way to make it back up for 2 years or so. My wife is hoping to get back to school to train as a legal secretary and get a better day job by the time the boys are ok to be on their own for a hour or so in the evening after school.

This job ties me up once a month but in the end the payback is very large and it also helps on my pension at the end. I can retire at 55 to 57 so being able to contract out on my own at that time is very appealing to help pay for some trips or retirement costs on the medical side.

Did have a nice bear steak dinner over the holidays my friends neighbor shot one knocking at his door last Thursday afternoon. It was young and very tender, cool part was he just got laid off and meat might have been an issue, which they had been praying about. God is very kind indeed.
