I think Malcolm X has nearly the same viewpoint as I do on this sort of topic. It is more than just black and white, pun intended. Source 8 has a lot of information on him. I would check out the quotes section first.
I think, like Vincenzo has pointed out, there is a certain degree of questionable activity within the African American culture. As to whether or not they even want to be a part of the melting pot so to speak. Mainly I think this is more of a misunderstanding.
I have read the speech Mr. Cosby layed out, and as I can respect his point of view. I also feel he does not know everything, there is another side to the story that you should know to truly understand the situation. What Mr. Cosby has said is nothing new, many people have said the same over time, including Malcolm X.
I hope you would also study and listen to others speeches as well, with an equal open mind and heart. I feel there is more than just one piece of the puzzle.

Comments: My racial background is quite varied. It depends on what government agency you ask what my "Official" race is. I'm thankful for my family background in that it has given me, in my opinion, a less biased view of race. I ask a lot of people who say "Black people, White people, Hispanic people, or ect.", Do you make blanket negative statements about people of your own race? Do you think people of your own race vary or are all generally the same? Do you think that because whatever number of people of a certain race has done something to you or people you know that everyone of that race has a possibility of doing that to someone? Do you think that someone of another race should do so if someone of your race does that same to them? Do you know every(or even a lot) of people of that race to make such a judgment? If you are, why would you be when you think so little of their race? The answer to these questions is generally "NO." The reason is because answering "Yes" to any of these makes you a bigot.
And when it comes to the US, nearly every group that has come into the US(minus maybe English descent) has faced discrimination. Native Americans were screwed shortly after Europeans landed. Those of African descent were screwed when the people of America were too lazy to work their own farms. Both Native Americans and Africans were enslaved during those times. But it should be pointed out that Native Americans kept African Slaves as well. Many Chinese and others of asian descent were screwed during the railroad expansion period. The Irish were screwed when they started to Migrate to the US. During WWII, those of Japanese descent were thrown in CONCENTRATION CAMPS. So were many of German descent. Including some German Jews. Today many people and companies take advantage of those from Central and South America. Only the delusional believe otherwise. The people of the past and some(but far fewer) of today have been very bad. It may take many generations before(if it even happens) people start blaming the individual and not the group.
As for the Justice system in the US, it was heavily biased until the civil rights movement. Even I can't believe that the system has become completely fair since that time. The facts are that the Innocence Project has cleared more minorities than any other since they started. I can't imagine minorities trying to get their help more than the majority. It's possible but, in my opinion, unlikely.
I was thinking about this topic a bit and came to the realization that the statistics are flawed. If you take into account that the huge majority of minorities (African Americans) live in cities (have lots of crime) and are low income (more crime). In turn the majority of whites are spread out threw the entire country. Living in rural communities and small towns all over America. Then one can get a better picture as to why African Americans (minorities) have a mutch larger percentage of crime versus other races. They are bunched up in poor communities within large cities.
For a better picture I would say take a poll of a city by itself. For those rich whites whos crimes touch thousands of people (fraud ect...) maybe count them per family they rob. Meaning most low income crime effects one family or a few. Most crimes committed by corporations or business owners effects hundreds or thousands of people.
I think that chart would show a much different picture of crime and who commits them.
I am not saying there isn't a problem in Black communities that needs to be addressed. I am saying there are problems within all communities and we focus on the minorities and of low income.

The problem with these theories is the lack of environmental control. If you bring up a black family in a good area with education and the necessary facilities available will they be more likely to commit crime? What about if you put a white family in a bad area with no facilities or education are they more likely to commit crime?

Comments: There is still much racism against people of color. But I can't help noticing some here acting like whites are responsible for most racism. Taylor's views on racial profiling do not just come from arrests but witness testimony and emergency room reports and all sorts of other sources. Of course not all blacks are criminals, but saying that they are not far more likely to commit violent crimes than whites is nothing but denial. How often have you seen on TV whites committing crimes against blacks? You can't turn on the TV without seeing the evil things that some white people have done in the past. However, even though it is a fact you will not see that for every single black female raped by a white man, there are 10,000 white women raped by a black man, not to mention disparities in other crimes. A couple of you have explained how poverty encourages crimes. Please ask yourself how the act of r-pe for example helps feed the hungry, or shelter the cold, or in any way helps poor people. I know that most people would rather ignore this terribly inconvenient fact, but if it was your daughter, or wife, or mother, would you excuse a black man raping one of these women because of his poverty, and environment?

I would say r-pe happens more often in poor communities for a wide range of reasons that would not exist if the individual was wealthier.
Drug use, the individual has been abused themselves, can't afford nice things to impress or court the woman, on and on.
I am in no way excusing the crime.
I do see a definite correlation between bodies of wealth and bodies of crime though. As well as the types of crimes.
George Bush told Americans lies to get us into a war that cost thousands of innocents lives. He has not received any punishment and a lot of people love him.
BP spilled oil into the gulf, changing the environment for generations to come. Destroying entire communities. Do you think that anyone will do time?
I don't want to get to off subject but my point is over and over whites commit crimes that only a cold hearted spineless bum would commit and receive no punishment.
I thing poorer communities need better parenting. Many are trying to raise kids alone and the cycle repeats. If you have no safety net or someone to help you get back up you end up lost, with little to no hope. Many in this situation compromise to survive.
