3 1/4 c All-purpose flour 1/2 ts Baking soda 1/4 ts Salt 1 ts Ground cinnamon 2 ts Ground ginger 1/4 ts Ground cloves 1 c Butter; softened 3/4 c Dark brown sugar; firmly pac -ked 1 lg Egg 1/2 c Unsulfured molasses 1/2 c Raisins Prepared icing in tubes And gels, all different -colors From supermarket Cake decorations * THE DESSERT SHOW SHOW#DS3140 AIR DATE: 1/10/96 GINGERBREAD PEOPLE * ( red hots, sprinkles, all kinds of decorations Preheat oven to 325. Whisk together flour, soda, salt, cinnamon, ginger, & cloves in bowl. In a large bowl, using electric mixer, cream butter & sugar. Add egg & molasses. Beat until smooth on medium speed. Add flour mixture. Beat on low until well mixed. Separate dough into 2 balls & flatten into disks. Wrap each in plastic wrap. Chill 1 hour until firm. On floured surface, roll dough out to 1/4-inch thickness. With floured gingerbread "men" cookie cutters, cut out dough. Gather scraps & roll & cut out also. Use all dough. Place on ungreased cookie sheets about 1/2 inch apart. If you want, at this time, use the raisins for eyes or other decorations. Press into dough. Bake 10 minutes until done. Do not overcook. Transfer to cool flat surface to cool. Gather all decorations & decorate the cookies. -
