Tighter controls on mobile phones? How about not giving a cell phone to a 10-year-old kid? You say the child MUST have a phone? Then don't give the child a phone with WEB ACCESS.
How about parents behaving sensibly and responsibly in regard to their children? Then the phone company and internet provider doesn't have to monitor the kids in place of the parents.
Are you sure this post shouldn't be in the "stupid parent tricks" thread?

What amazes me about these things is that a parent has to wait for a company to tell them what age is suitable for their child to have a phone. Can't parents think for themselves anymore? Probably not:

VODAFONE PR SAYS 12 TOO YOUNG FOR MOBILE A Vodafone spokesman has advised parents not to give cellphones to children under 14. He was responding to concerns raised by a Wellington parent who found his son's pre-pay account had been emptied by signing up to a ringtone site. Is it that they think that *their* kids are just so much more mature or trustworthy than other kids the same age? I'm sorry, but a kid is a kid. I've already told my daughter she's not to have a cell phone until she has a job to pay for it! These things are not cheap, and there is a lot of responsibility involved with owning one.
I absolutely agree with you all... I distinctly remember my mom not even letting me watch the TV alone till I was around 15. Even my sister is not allowed a cell phone even though she's 16...
Though I earlier resented my mom curbing my independence , but I now feel that she was right in doing so...
