Comments: These unethical, unprofessional, poor excuses for doctors are all standing together, protesting, so that their colleagues are not allowed to face the consequences of their gross neglect of Mrs Boodoo-Ramsoomair. Dr Shehenaz Mohammed of Medical Professionals Association of Trinidad and Tobago is demotivated, demoralised and depressed (Newsday, Mar 2011). If this was any other country by now all of these doctors and nurses will have been fired and their medical license revoked, including Dr Mohammed who is depressed. What is she depressed about, that she is unable to malpractise and not have to face the consequences of their action.
While there are many good doctors in Trinidad who genuinely care for their patient well being and health, the hard fact remains, that most of these doctors at the SFGH, is a bad image and reflection of the doctor profession. I remember the days when doctors was a profession that was respected. Sad to say I now see them as a bunch of idiots who have no idea what they are doing and are only in the profession for money. They treat patients as a burden and are not aware that they are Public Servants, there to serve the public.
If there is any justice in this country, all of these doctors will be fired including Dr Mohammed who obvoiusly in in no condition to be taking care of sick patients. She herself is sick, as Dr Mohammed in Newsday (Mar 2011) reports, she is demotivated, demoralised and depressed. How can the SWRHA have an unfit person like that working, sufferring from these psychological diseases.
Get rid of her as well, and anyone who is in that mob of doctors who are doing all to ensure that they can mal practise free in Trinidad without being held accountable.
Justice, you're so right. I would like to add that in the US in a similar situation they would have done the same (suspension) so why are doctors striking when in fact the lady died because they did the C-section wrong?
So the South West Regional Health Authority gave instructions that there should be a registrar/consultant in attendance when Caesarean sections are being performed on pregnant mothers who are deemed to be "high-risk" patients so what exactly are the doctors complaining if they didn't follow the procedure?
Well, the registrar wasn't qualified because despite the fact that they said she performed more than 250 C-sections, she have not yet completed post graduate qualifications in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Only in Trinidad people, only in Trinidad!
I was looking at one man on TV 6 who said that he would often have to threaten the hospital staff in order for them to take care of his wife properly when she was delivering. he also said that hospital staff have no people skills.

Comments: [..] I'm from USA. Both of my parents, as well as most of my family, were born in Trinidad. I am currently studying to become a doctor, and am disgusted by the comments I've seen on this discussion board. I had no idea the savage practices that have been happening in Trinidad. To be a doctor is to help those around you live a long, enjoyable, healthy life. How has this injustice happened for so long? You should all be able to walk into a public hospital and receive the care that you and your family deserve. I WILL do something about this. Who will join me?
