2007 Home Improvements

2007 Home Improvements

How do you plan on improving your home's appearance in 2007? With me it is a regular activity - as I see something that needs fixing, replacing or being brought in to facilitate a need I tend to jump on it right away. You do not have to own your own home in order to improve it.

My little place needs to be more tidy, but it has to be something constant. I hope to do that as goal for next year.

I've got 2 things that I intend to do this year, the first is put a shower in. We have lived here for just over a year, and have said practically every month that we're going to do it but somehow haven't got round to doing so. We bought a shower a week before Christmas-- as they were in the sales, we now just have to get round to having it installed laugh.gif

The second thing that I intend to get done, is to get either wooden flooring or laminate flooring down in the downstairs hallway. When we moved in, we had a carpet fitted through the hallway and up the stairs. Whilst this works well on the stairs, it is driving me mad trying to keep the downstairs hall carpet clean. It is the main entrance, and it just ends up with muddy footprints that I end up scrubbing off--while this does actually work, it's just the hassle of it, so have planned to opt for something that's moppable!

We got around to having the shower fixed in, so that's good, we changed our mind on having the laminate flooring, purely because our dogs went to my Mum and Dad's house for the day (who have laminate flooring), and the poor things couldn't walk on it- they were slipping all over the place-I'm glad we found out before we purchased any!
We have decided instead to buy a new lounge carpet, and the carpet from the lounge is going in the hallway, as it's a lot easier maintenance than the one that's already laid in the hallway!
other than that, maintenance jobs just tend to get fixed as they arise, before they can get worse!

2007 Home Improvements

This is a Home Improvement that many may not think about and that is to get rid of things! I have a goal to be as light as a suitcase and the closer I feel to it the easier it is to think, breathe and live - a definite Home Improvement because now there is so much room for the kids to play, walk and not have to worry about a 'thing' sitting there in the corner looking 'nice'.

That is a very good point JB. A unclutter home is more restful to the eye and way easier to keep clean. My wife is religious about that she goes through things and if she finds a box unopened for 6 moths it one peak inside and out the door. For any one with allergies or asthma this is very important!
