Is the subject of the LGBT Community in Philippines taboo?

LGBT discrimination is against the law in the Philippines. But I'm sure that there are still cases of discrimination happening like in work, school, etc. Depending on the situation, there is no problem in general if you're one of them. A sample of case of discrimination happened when a female transgender was not allowed to use the female comfort room. This was highly publicized in the national news which lead to laws being passed protecting their rights. An example is some establishments providing them their own comfort room. One of the leading showbiz personality is a gay comedian who sways a lot of influence to the masses.
