Barack Obama - Page 28

Unbelievable Video

This video clip pretty much sums up everything Glenn has been saying for the past months in just a few seconds. An excited woman is interviewed after an Obama rally and says she will vote for Obama because 'I won't have to worry about putting gas in my car and I won't have to worry about paying my mortgage'. (Watch the woman get caught hook, line and sinker [below])

He's going to pay for your mortgage? Not likely---he won't even pay for his Uncle's mortgage (evicted) or his Aunt (living in a Boston slum) or his half brother (who makes $1 per month and lives in Kenya in a hut).

Well that is just amazing. Incredible really. Now, not to try to dissolve any argument, but didn't we already know this?

The Democrats are the party that says government will make you smarter, taller, richer, and remove the crabgrass on your lawn. The Republicans are the party that says government doesn't work and then they get elected and prove it.

This is one of the reasons I am leaning heavily towards McCain and Palin. I do not want all my taxes going up. This lady shows where all that money will be going.

"I've got two daughters, 9 years old and 6 years old. I am going to teach them first of all about values and morals. But if they make a mistake, I don't want them punished with a baby." -- Barack Obama in Pennsylvania on March 31, 2008

Good point, punish a life with a life. That's a almost a Hundred Thousand Dollar punishment!

A "good point"?!? You agree with this? Honestly, Rhieland, sometimes you baffle me completely.

A baby is not a punishment. This is one of the quotes that will follow Obama the rest of his career.

Actually I do understand this statement. At first it seems mean but think of this if you will bare with me.

You are 13 and get conned into sex with no protection. Yup you are now pregnant and your parents can barely afford to look after you let alone the baby. You now get to flunk out of school and start a dead end job flipping burgers.

I think this might be what he is referring to. Not you are married and ready to start a family.

Rather off topic, but...
I disagree. I have friends whose daughters have "made a mistake" and who have not had to travel that road.

There is also the option of adopting the baby to a loving family who can care for it, it doesn't have to mean abortion.

Let me try to explain to you what it does to a woman to lose a baby in such a way... no. Can't be done. Suffice to say, it follows her the rest of her life. The rest of her life. That's much more "punishment" than having a baby, who can bring joy beyond measure into a person's life. (Yes, I know, sorrows too, but let's not discount the joy.)

Yes, there are consequences to making mistakes. That's not the same as punishment. Even when we've repented of mistakes, and tried to make restitution, there still may be consequences for our actions. That's not the same as punishment.

I'm not going to try to analyze what Obama "might have meant" when he said this. The fact remains, in my opinion, that usually what comes out of the mouth first is really the truth of what is felt. Not to mention the fact that his own daughters are hardly in that kind of a burger-flipping situation.
