No we did not come from neanderthals. We shared a common ancestor with them. But apparently interbred with them, so their DNA is in our genome. Not sure if that includes swimmers ear!

Just a question, current modern-day humans didn't come from the Neanderthals, but humans did imbreed with them, so are we semi-related?

I would argue we do come from Neanderthals in the sense that ancient humans had relationships and had children with Neanderthals. I say 'we' as in humans in the last 3,000 years or something like that.
