1/4 | cup | green pepper, chopped | |
4 | cup | water, divided | |
1 | each | great northern beans, 15 oz can, drained, rinsed | |
1 | each | navy beans, 15 oz can, drained, rinsed | |
1 | each | tomato sauce, 6 oz can, salt-free | |
1 | each | tomatoes, diced, 14.5 oz can, low-salt, undrained | |
2 | teaspoon | chili powder, or to taste | |
1 | teaspoon | salt (optional) | |
1/2 | teaspoon | pepper | |
Directions: | |||
In a large saucepan, cook the onion and green pepper in 1/2 cup water until tender. Add beans, tomato paste and tomatoes. Stir in chili powder, salt if desired, pepper and remaining water; bring to a boil. Reduce heat cover and simmer for 20 minutes. |
