Not sure but it could be related to the type of receiver. The complaints I heard about Directtv are from Argentina and Trinidad, I never heard anyone in the US complaining about it although it is known that any service that requires a dish seems to be affected by the weather somehow, just Google the words and you will see.

Comments: I'm watching Direct TV right now. It started to rain lightly and the reception is totally gone for all channels!

Comments: We have had Direct TV for 2 years in the Dallas, Texas area (we rarely get snow) and every time someone spits in the wind our boxes go out. It takes more than a minute to reboot and when you are in the middle of a crime show or movie that can be pretty bad. We have had storms knock out the system for 30 min or more. But if you have shows stored on a DVR you can watch those. Yet that in no consolation when you missed the ending of a Who Done It.

Comments: We have Direct TV. If it rains, the signal goes OUT. And it is NEVER less than 1 minute. Sometimes it is HOURS. A nice heavy summer rain will do it every time. I'm not talking tornado weather...just a heavy rainfall...more than a mist, knocks our tv out every time. I've heard of "rain shields" that will fix the problem, but I have no idea what that is yet...still Googling that!

Comments: I have Direct TV, and when it rains, the signals are gone, whether it's light rain or heavy.
I'm watching World Cup final, and it started to rain, not heavy at all, and the signal is completely lost.
This is their world class quality service?
