Birth Control And Cultural Suicide.
It is obvious that not only the scriptures present a negative view towards family limitation but also LDS prophets and apostles throught the entire history of the Church:

Now it seems that the message of the prophets is coming true -- developed nations throughout the world (particularly those of Europe and North America) are facing tremendous birth shortages:

| Not a single Western European country has a fertility rate sufficient to replace the current population, which demographers say requires 2.1 children per family. Germany, Russia, Spain, Poland and Italy all have rates of about 1.3 children, according to the U.N. The Czech Republic's is less than 1.2, and even Roman Catholic Ireland is at 1.9 children. Some Duma members (Russia's parliament) have called for polygamy being promoted in Russia to get the birthrate up, France is giving women several years of paid maternity leave for the birth of a child (Sweden gives 1.5 years of baby time at 80% of your job's payrate), Japan runs commercials to convince young women to get pregnant, one legislator from the Christian party in Sweden proposed playing naughty movies on state tv in order to spart more "activity" and therefore more pregnancies, Russia is considering high taxes on single people and marrieds without kids and South Korea is considering encouraging TV programs to incorporate big families as desirable into their TV shows.
The time is right for LDS persons not to apologize for the fact that we believe in having big families but proclaim it. The only hope for western society is to adopt LDS views on family planning (which my former institute director said, in LDS terminology means planning on having a family). The irony is that all of Christiandome used to follow our general views but due to secularism and materialism has, for the most part, chosen to ignore this -- which has lead to the situation we have today.
