Water Too

I believe you can water log a plant that is not naturally a river or sea plant by over watering it. Usually this happens where there is no irrigation such as in a plant pot or trough.

Yes, you most definitely can overwater most plants. My suggestion is to buy a book on plant care, or ask the person you buy it from, because unless you are familiar with each of thousands of varieties, you will be guessing how much and how often to water. My favorite house plant is the Creeping Charlie. It can be "started" from a leaf, or stem, and it's almost impossible to kill. I watered mine every day and after almost a year it looked pretty bad. Now I water it once a week, or month, or whenever it looks pitiful. It's 10 years old and still alive.
