Just to let you know that I have asked the authorities to let me know whenever something is happening. THey have been very good of advising me and I knew Sunday morning that the remains they found was that of a male person. They have been keeping the media informed so that the wrong information does not get published, as occurred so often in the past. I prefer that approach rather than rumours!
What has really gotten me upset is the time that it is taking to get information from the three "informants" who are said to be willing to talk. I know that the police cannot meet their demands for immunity (they don't have the power to do that), but I am hoping that they will make this happen sooner rather than later.
Mr. Coolman, thanks for the update:

An expectant move, it is so sad that people has to leave their own country because they do not feel safe anymore.

Vindra's sister, family flee T&T The toll of months of uncertainty over the whereabouts of Naipaul-Coolman following her abduction last year, and fears, following death threats reportedly received by Seema Naipaul Ramcharitar and her husband Mitra, were said to be behind their decision to pack up and leave. The Ramcharitars lived at Palm Road, Valsayn north. Neighbours told the Express that the family left three weeks ago, with their two young daughters. Seema was the first to leave, then a few days later, Mitra. A friend of the Ramcharitars told the Express that Vindra's abduction had deeply affected Seema. "She had been crying everyday. She was very close to her sister (Vindra), and was depressed and overwhelmed by the situation." The family friend also said that the couple did not feel that bringing up their daughters "in a society like this would have been beneficial to the girls". Before his sister-in-law Vindra was abducted, Mitra Ramcharitar had reportedly boasted to his neighbours that he would never leave the country over the high crime rate. One neighbour related that Ramcharitar had a strong faith in God, and told him, "I am not afraid. I walk with God." However, following Naipaul-Coolman's kidnapping, neighbours said the couple became prisoners in their own home. "They were keeping their doors closed. They even shunned their neighbours in the aftermath of the kidnapping," a neighbour told the Express. Ramcharitar reportedly told his neigbour: "Because of what happen, I don't want to have anything to do with this country again." |
Who can blame her. However a lesson to be learnt - you cannot speak so big. I often hear Trinis say "I will never leave" or "Trinidad too good" and other stupid statements. Then they are touched and all their wasted words take on a different tone.
Personally, I believe that a case like this with no real leads or even a body to bring resolve is showing up the level of tactical crime abilities that the police have at their disposal.
What ever happened to those mysterious abductors that wanted amnesty in order to 'tell all'? Has that all gone quiet now?
I am skeptical. For what I read it seems like those bones belong to a homeless man that used to sit on a bench near that area but who knows! If they have a suspect, who is he/she? And why is this information coming out now just before elections?
