An NBA - Basketball playoff team worth the investment

Steve Nash is not having the same kind of year he did last year when he won the NBA MVP award, yet the Suns find themselves atop the Pacific Division and 2nd in the Western Conference standings. Shawn Marion has filled in well for the injured and absent Amare Stoudemire, averaging 21 points and 12 rebounds a game. With other role players like Tim Thomas, Raja Bell and Eddie House, the Suns can find themselves deep in the playoff picture. However, I just don't believe they have the mettle to contend with either the Spurs or Mavericks. What is your view on the Phoenix Suns?

SUNS' 3-POINT BARRAGE DOES IN MAVERICKS

Kobe's cold as Lakers lose series opener to Suns

QUOTE
Kobe Bryant didn't score, the Phoenix Suns couldn't run

https://cbs.sportsline.com/nba/gamecenter/r...0060423_LAL@PHO

I thought it was funny how scoring 22 points counts as going 'cold' or not scoring. Why doesn't anyone just give Phoenix credit that they are a better team than the Lakers, with 'team' being the operative word. My hope is to see the Suns sweep the Lakers in the first round.

Paper: Nash to repeat as league's MVP

QUOTE
PHOENIX -- Steve Nash will be named the NBA's most valuable player for the second year in a row, the Arizona Republic reported on Wednesday.

The newspaper cited a league source familiar with the voting, but said the official announcement may not come for two weeks.

Well, I guess I was wrong. It seems Nash did have a career year this year, even though the team won 8 fewer games than they did in 2005, when he won the MVP unanimously. My vote, however, would have gone to Nowitzki in Dallas, a former teammate of Nash's.

Kobe Bryant's 17-foot jumper as time expired in overtime gave the Lakers an improbable 99-98 victory over the Phoenix Suns on Sunday and a 3-1 lead in the first-round playoff series.

Oh, no... This has got to be the worst officiating I've ever seen. I couldn't believe my eyes. Just before this play, Nash got totally hammered from both sides and a what? was called? Jump ball? So stupid... Even Phil Jackson knew how horrible the call was. Did anyone see this?

I wouldn't jump on the officials quite yet. Even Nash himself admitted the calls weren't all bad

QUOTE
Though some of the Suns felt he was fouled on both critical plays, Nash declined to make that case after the game, explaining he slipped on the first and the Suns wanted a timeout before the second.

I watched the end of that game, and the Suns really let the Lakers win it. You can't expect the officials to be the reason for losing a game. They only have control over a few plays. The rest is up to the team. I wouldn't go as far as saying this was the worst officiating ever.

It looked to both my husband and I that Nash was fouled from both sides, but I guess Nash knows best what happened. I do think some officials favor the Lakers but you're absolutely right. It's the team that wins or loses the game. Kobe made a great winning shot.

Well, the Suns did what they needed to do. Take the series back to Phoenix.

Suns stave off elimination; Bell ejected for choke-slam on Kobe

QUOTE
The small Phoenix Suns turned physical, of all things, and rolled past the Los Angeles Lakers 114-97 Tuesday night to stay alive in their first-round playoff series.

I did not see this game but it sounds like the Suns were very physical, and even Kobe got ejected from the game. The end result was a blowout, but the main thing is that Phoenix gets to play the last 2 games at home. It may go all 7.
