Hi! I have joined this site to try to get some insight on how to change my life into something meaningful. I have a history of substance/alcohol abuse and feel like life is just passing by and that I am not being as useful as I should be - to myself and my children. I want to change, but am finding it hard to get started.

One thing I can say is look at who you choose to be friends with. If they are still abusers of drugs or alcohol it may be harder for you to your life turned around. Try to stay away from users as you try to get yourself free of abuse.
How much are you using in a day if you do not mind sharing? Is it small enough that you can quit? Do you really want to quit? I know the last question may sound funny but some think they want to quit and actually do not want too. If you really want to do not get in your car to go score take the money and place it into a bank that you can not open. Save that money for something your child(ren) want for their birthday. Go out with a friend or have someone come over who will help keep you from going to get that latest score.
