More serious crimes were reported in Tobago last year than other time during the last five years.

There were 1,156 serious crimes reported in Tobago last year.

Last year there were 377 murders in the country, according to CAPA. An Express tally has put the year end toll at 383.

It was only the second time that the murder toll did not cross the 400 mark in the past five years.

In 2008 and 2009 the murder toll crossed the 500 mark with 547 and 507 murders. Ref. Source 9

There were four murders today. This pushes the total up to 11 for 2013 (A rate of almost one murder per day). Do note that we do not tally the number shot, some do live after shootings, otherwise there would be a much larger number.

There were 4 murders again in just one day making the total murder rate jump to 16 for 2013. TV6 reported that there was an emergency national security meeting over the matter. Not a good start, especially when tourists may be expected here soon for Carnival.

That is a really bad start for T&T for 2013. I do think the government of T&T should declare another state of emergency to slow down the murder poll like last year.

A state of emergency is NOT a solution if anything it will cause things to get worst. The police just need to do their job ALL the time and not some of the time.

The murder rate for the year thus far is 61. This surpasses the figure for last year during this period. In the past 72 hours there were 8 murders and the PM announced that violent crime has put a damper on the number of visitors that are coming to the country.

Just imagine, since my last Post 3 days ago the murder cont is now at 72 which makes it 19 murders in only 8 days.
