The judge in John Edwards' federal corruption trial ruled that the jury should continue deliberating after they reached a verdict on only one of six counts.
Edwards' lawyers had asked for a mistrial after the partial verdict on the ninth day of deliberations. The charges carry a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison and a $1.5 million fine. Ref. CNN

Federal jurors in last month's corruption trial cleared the former presidential candidate on one of six counts and deadlocked on the rest. That came after the North Carolina jury deliberated for more than 50 hours over nine days. Ref. CNN
