I have an old fashion circular battery operated clock hanging above the fireplace. I like its look and it keeps time well. However, being battery operated means that its good time keeping only lasts about six weeks until it goes horribly wrong. What I really want is a grandfather clock. I really like those clocks, they are so nostalgic.
My mother's side of the family are sticklers for date and times. We have a clock in every room in the house -- yes, including the bathrooms -- as well as a calendar in every room. Kitchen and laundry rooms are analog, I have a digital alarm clock, and the VCR or DVD players all have digital clocks.
In the living room, we keep time using the digital receiver that brings the cable feed into the house. It is always accurate, even during daylight saving changes, and it is big and easy to read from anywhere. In my bedroom, I have a digital dual-alarm clock. My daughter just got one of those cubic color-changing digital alarm clocks for her room. It is actually pretty neat. It changes color every hour; we got it from the Discovery Channel store at the mall. Other than that we have a cheap round clock in the bathroom, on the wall, and a microwave in the kitchen that has a clock on it.
I have a clock in every room in the house, but I must confess that I have a bit of an obsession with having the timings set fast on them.
It drives my family mad.
For example, my watch is 3 minutes fast, my clock in my car is 2 minutes fast, the clock in my kitchen is 4 minutes fast!
What maddens my family even more is the fact that they will look at the kitchen clock for example and say it's time we got going, and I'll tell them I've got 4 minutes left yet, they reasonably argue that I'd be better setting them all at the same time
I suppose to one degree or another though, most of us will have a slight oddity!
Not really an oddity, Diane, I do the same thing with my alarm clock in the bedroom. I figure if it is fast then I am actually up earlier than I'm supposed to be. It helps me get ready on time rather than being late. My wife detested it at the beginning but now she sees there is some merit in that practise.
I currently have a mantle style clock in my living area which I have placed on top of my entertainment center. It is just a cheap 10$ clock from Wal-mart but it gets the job done. In the kitchen I have the time on both my microwave as well as my oven. My office I simply use the clock on my computer. Lastly I have two separate alarm clock in my bedroom. I guess it is not as odd for me to have my alarm clocks set 15 minutes faster than all the others after reading previous posts here. I thought I was just strange that way.
