CANNED TUNA EXCEEDS GUIDELINES ON MERCURY: CBC INVESTIGATION

Following a CBC investigation that found mercury levels above the allowed limit, Health Canada issued new consumption guidelines on Monday for canned albacore tuna for women and children.

Well, this is a surprise to me. I always thought that eating fish was somehow "safe" but the levels of mercury found on these cans are something to be concerned about when you read:

High levels of mercury can damage our nervous systems and can inhibit brain development in young children.


These tuna cans were found with 13% more mercury than the percentage allowed.
