Dryvit House
What is a Dryvit House and are these kinds of houses selling in today's market?
It is a synthetic stucco material that is water tight. If your house is a wood frame you are in big trouble if it is not done right as the studs and framing will rot out over time.
There is a mesh barrier that goes in and special seals for the windows. It allows for water drainage under the siding. Some of the older systems are not great and broke down over time insure to get a qualified inspector to look at it not just your home inspector because they are not likely experts in that area.
The siding adds R8 to the insulation of the walls but also removes the cold convection that occurs through the studs in the wall so it actually creates a war wall in the home and the room feels warmer at the same temperature. So many end up turning the thermostat down.
So yes it will add to the value of your home and for any interested in it it starts at 8 to 12 dollars per square foot and is a nice Canadian company from Stouville, Ontario. Once you start upgrading the base price zooms quickly. This is not a do it your self you have to be licensed for this to even has a warranty.
I rate this a must in new home building and one should also consider insulating the concrete around the basement also.
Remember a wall that is not frozen on the outside feels warmer on the inside and does not leach your heat.
Now are they selling I can guarantee it, and at a premium as they look very nice.
