Earth Day

EDITORIAL: A GREAT STATE FOR EARTH DAY

Today is Earth Day. And like poet Wallace Stevens' beloved blackbird, there are at least 13 different ways of looking at it. Some see the day as a cooked-up contrivance by activists -- hardly a holiday of the heart. They ignore it. Others use the day to point out the slap in the face human beings deliver daily to Mother Nature. Some use Earth Day to trumpet solutions to problems and offer cautionary tales.

Day Earth

I celebrated earth day by taking out the trash and separating the recyclables from the rest of it. I took all the recyclables up to the plant where they recycle everything and turned it in. No money for it unfortunately. But none of that really matters if I don't do the same thing again next week. Its like the spirit of giving around christmas time. None of it makes any difference if tomorrow you do the same things you always did.

Here is an interesting commentary on the "Lies about Earth Day". Actually, while it is posted on and about Earth Day, I think it is more an expose of some of the more damaging aspects of modern "environmentalism".

Anyway, I enjoyed it, so here it is for the rest of you.

I forgot to wish everyone a happy earth day this year. So I will wish everyone a happy belated earth day and hope I do better next year.

Earth Day

I had a good clear out on Earth day, and then went on a recycle forum where people have a need for things that others are getting rid of- I got rid of my stuff, someone else received it, and it's all good because it's free and 'green', it's the way to go, in my opinion.

Earth Day

I have found that I do not need earth day to get rid of stuff. I place things out at my curb through out the year and it disappears before I get home. I love living right off campus. smile.gif
