THREAT TO CLOSE CHRISTIAN SCHOOLS

The Government is threatening to shut down two Christian schools unless they say whether staff are illegally hitting children.

One question must be asked here is... Does hitting in school benefit a child's education? Is it just about behavior are you supposed to somehow study diligently - concentrate better?

I think it's because these Christian schools believe in the biblical point of 'spare the rod, spoil the child', but in it's own context if you believe in following this, it was referring purely to the parents' responsibility, and not anybody else, including teachers being able to dish out corporal punishment to other peoples kids.

There was a problem similar to this in the UK, where also public smacking of children is banned, and the schools made the parents sign a consent form to give permission for their children to be 'smacked' at school.

There's a fine line in my opinion to how hard you are trusting these teachers to be able to hit the children, I don't know how how the parents would stand if the teachers were too heavy handed and 'marked' a child, or who would be held responsible in this situation.
