I could use a good bathroom remodel. While the costs for a full remodel are high bathrooms (and kitchens) are areas where you will recoup most, if not all, of your investment upon resale. If you cannot afford a full remodel right now you can give your bath a facelift by purchasing new cabinet doors (or refinishing the old) and replacing your bathroom rugs, shower curtain and new towels. Freshen up your tile grout if needed and add a fresh coat of paint to work wonders.

Due to mold, some years back we had to remodel the bathroom. Everything was redone. The bathroom was rebuilt from the ground up. A new sink, tub/shower, tiles, walls, fixtures were all installed. The people who redid the bathroom were off duty firefighters that did remodeling on the side. They didn't do that great of a job on the bathroom. I had to recaulk the tub area, and they didn't put anything over the threshold between the bathroom and hallway. The tile just ends with an inch of space between it and the carpet. Also the baseboards don't touch the floor like they should. Bugs can crawl underneath.
The mold has returned on the ceiling, so more work should be done.

If mold is returning to the ceiling only you may have a problem above the bathroom itself. Check to make sure there is not a pipe above there that is leaking or a hole in the roof that is causing a leak. Mold commonly forms around a shower curtain or corners of a tub/shower first. Mold hardly ever forms above head level unless there is a underlying problem.

Well, there is mold in the air ducts too. I really need to get out of this place. The mold is black, but supposedly it's not "black mold". The vent in the bathroom doesn't really work so it doesn't get the steam out of the bathroom. That's a big part of the mold issue.

Getting the steam out is something that vents are designed to do. Too often I have seen vents placed in a bathroom but no fan in them to draw the steam out side or the vent ending inside the wall. Yes if you have mold in the air ducts then you should probably get out of that house and ito a better one.

Mold is the most common reason I hear for remodeling. Using tub level. Just today I removed a tub for a friend and half the wall is going to need new studs and backer boards. I hate untended tile work.
