Red Army Faction (RAF)
No final word in Red Army Faction debate
The debate over terrorism by the Red Army Faction (RAF) cannot, in the view of the [Baden-Wuerttemberg] CDU state parliamentary faction, be ended with a single stroke. "We owe that to the victims and their relatives" said CDU deputy Christoph Palm during debate in the state parliament. "President Koehler will - without needing any sort of advice from our side - reach the right decision". That is also the view of Rainer Stickelberger (SPD). Minister of Justice Ulrich Goll (FDP) used the debate to once again remember the victims of the RAF. "Christian Klar will be treated exactly the same as any other serial killer", he also said. Alluding to the letter of greeting sent by Christian Klar on the occasion of the Rosa Luxemburg conference, Goll said he is not calling the freedom of expression - even that of someone like Christian Klar - into question. However "when one makes use of the terminology of 30 years past", then it must be allowable that another appraisal of that person's risk of relapse be requested.
