Romana Introduction

Most people know me as Romana. I am considerably different; most people never encounter someone like me. I am a retired computer techie; while I am technically super-competent, I am not verbally articulate, since I have Asperger's Syndrome, a high-functioning form of autism.

I have many interests, most of which deal with scientific or technical subjects. I am very good at figuring out how things work. I am not very good with touchy-feely social stuff.

People like me seldom manage to get married; but I have been married for over 26 years. Still, we are the odd couple on our block.
One of the odd characteristics of our marriage is that my wife is LDS, but I will never join that church.

Since I have always practiced extreme rationality, it seemed that was always destined to be stuck in atheism; however, I am always learning, and so have come to view atheism and fundamentalism as two sides of the same coin.

I have been attending my local (Unity) church for over five years now. Why did I do this? They allowed me to pursue my spiritual growth the way I thought it should be done, and they let me transform myself into the person I am today. Since 1989, I have been exploring my gender identity, and I have come to find that social interaction works far better for me as transwoman, than a man. I have been living as a woman for almost two years full-time, and I have been extremely successful in this endeavor.

Again, my wife and I are the odd couple on our block. Like all husbands who suffer from some form of autism, I rely heavily on my wife's advice. My wife has been extremely supportive, despite the fact that none of this was her idea. Our marriage will always be legal, because I am just woman-identified, not female identified, so I will never get sexual reassignment surgery. However, I believe that surgery is just an option, not something that changes who I am.

AS and my gender-variance give me a point of view far different than average. I am now into [I]Process Philosophy and Theology, which is a very rational methodology for describing reality, how the Universe works, God, and even Jesus Christ, without resorting to dualisms and paradoxes.
Unfortunately, I have found that most people are not interested in philosophical disciplines, but are quite happy with beliefs that might be filled with dualisms and paradoxes.

Hi Romana, welcome. What an interesting intro. I have met several people with AS so I am a bit familiar with the whole social aspect issue. We have tons of threads in the Psychology, Philosophy and Religious board that I am sure you would be interested in replying. All the best.

Romana Introduction

Hi Romana, it's nice to see a pic along with your posts. I was telling Coletta that I started a thread about trans genders in the mature board but is only accessible to upgrade members so if you ever think about upgrading, I would appreciate the replies since I have many questions on the topic.
