Kesko announced on Thursday that it will shed a total of 193 positions in three of its business segments as a result of extensive consultative negotiations. The number of redundancies also includes possible voluntary retirements and non-renewals of fixed-term employment contracts.Initially, the traditional retailer estimated that it would need to cut up to 230 positions.

Major Drug Ring Busted By KRP

The National Bureau of Investigation (KRP) has seized roughly 30 kilos of narcotics as part of an investigation into a drug ring operating in Finland. The ring was busted after investigators learnt that a man serving a prison sentence in the capital region had run a nationwide drug-distribution operation.During the investigation, over one kilo of amphetamine was found in outdoor stashes in Liperi and over 360 tablets of Subutex in the capital region.

Stockmann has completed negotiations with the staff of Seppälä and announced that a total of 70 jobs will be reduced at the head office and warehouse of the struggling fashion chain.The traditional retailer stated that it will downsize the operations of Seppälä to concentrate solely on its best-performing stores in Finland and Estonia. Seppälä will therefore pull out of the Latvian and Lithuanian markets entirely in the course of next year.
