What normally happens to a person that misuses prescription drugs: headaches, dizziness, unconsciousness, depression, and in the worst case scenario death. I doubt you will die, but the issues are far reaching and you should immediately seek the help of a doctor, do not delay!

Comments: I just stopped taking Concerta 36 mg after 2 years four days ago. Coffee helps-I've had 3-4 cups every day, note that I love coffee and drink it in the early evenings most days anyway. I've been having a hard time waking up, but I make fresh veggie/fruit juice every morning, which immediately clears up any fuzziness. Also, if I'm heading to a dance class, I take an amino acid complex and a B12.
If you're taking your child off a medication, make sure you TALK to them about it first. They are not an experiment. Make sure they're getting more then adequate nutrition(no junk) so their brains have the best to work with, and plenty of water so they they don't get backed up after being on stimulants for so long.
If you don't want to give your kid coffee, try black tea. Caffeine is pennies compared to stimulants.

Title: Treatment for ADD
Comments: There are natural treatments for ADD that are available, which do not have any side effects. The best natural treatment for ADD is lifestyle changes. Lifestyle changes means a change in the way you live. The food is very important.

Comments: I am 39 year old female and I work in the healthcare field, I have been trying to get off the Concerta and yes there is def[inite], withdrawals, I get so tired, irritated and yes nausea so bad that I have vomited, and because I have two small children it is hard for me to stop because I have to function, but yes the withdrawals are horrible, I have tried at least 20 times in 2 years to get off this stuff. I want to be my normal creative self again, not a zombie.

Title: Concerta
Comments: I have been on stimulants for 18 years and don't want to be on them anymore. I decided to take a day off and suppliment with coffee to taper off. I felt like I wasn't in a dream state anymore, it was wonderful. However, my stomach was doing very uncomfortable things. I found that this discomfort was relieved when I started to move, like walk around or do jumping jacks. I believe these are withdrawal symptoms. My parasympathetic system (rest and digest) is being overactive because my sympathetic system is no longer being stimulated. I talked to my doctor to get a lower dose of the medication, and she refuses. She tells me that I can just stop it because its out of my system in 12 hours anyway. I disagree because of my own experiences. I feel terrible physically when off of it, but great mentally and I know this must be withdrawal. Does anybody know how long theses symptoms will last or what I can tell me doctor to give me a lover dose so my body isn't in as much shock? Any advice would help. Thanks.

Comments: I took concerts for my ADHD for 15 years or so, and just recently abruptly stopped. I found being active a lot helps more than anything. (ie daily walks, sports, etc.)

Comments: Iv recently started this medication at 18Mg, it works great at this dosage. I don't understand why anyone would need larger dosages in the 100s of milligrams per pill. Adhd medication is heavily over prescribed with no known long term benefits as an SSRI helps rid depression even once discontinued. If you have a young child taking more than I do it sounds poisonous in my opinion, I'm 19 years old and have had adhd my whole life if anything would help a child it would be to learn how to cope without drugs at a young age, if a teenager needs an extra kick to motivate them in high school then I would definitely use it as an option. I am no doctor but I realize drugs can have adverse effects and usually aren't the main answer unless someone has a severe mental illness such as schizophrenia. It makes me sick hearing about kids in diapers being prescribed a stimulant..
