No residues will be left on his system. The half-life of Concerta and other Methylphenidate drugs is very short, hence the need of repeated doses daily.
It will be completly out of his system in 24 hours.
Now with regards to the withdrawal effects, we should not see many IF we do it gradually nevertheless the methylphenidate drugs are similar to the withdrawals of amphetamines lasting around 7-15 days.

Comments: I stopped taking Concerta three days ago, and I already feel sick today. I've felt weak, nauseous, and have been dealing with a tough headache. Since I don't wish to be medicated my whole life, I've decided to make an attempt at natural fixes. First, I started taking Vitamin B and Mulit-Vitamins about a week ago--I THINK it's helped waking up in the mornings. Also, I've been feeling in a better mood throughout the day, possibly due to the vitamins. Second, I plan on observing my behavior, now that I know what the difference is on and off Concerta. When I notice my attention lacking or my organization slipping, I'll know I have to work that much harder to try to overcome.
My lethargy and nausea may be from something else, but I'm pretty sure it's a reaction to being off Concerta for only three days. I'm hoping this feeling lasts less than a week, but we'll see.
People NEED to know about this reaction when quitting Concerta. I shouldn't have to run to the internet to find out about these adverse effects.

Comments: Hi...I found your comments to be helpful. My daughter is 10 and has been on Concerta for about 2 1/2 months. She had lost 10lbs in a little less than a month. My husband and I got very concerned so I contacted our doctor and she said it was ok to just stop. So we did. Within a few days she was acting very out of the ordinary...very angry! After a couple weeks and the behavior still bad we put her back on it and she seems to be acting better. Not sure what to do next? Thanks

Comments: This may not be relevant but I was prescribed Concerta 18 mg and I hadn't been taking it normally and I felt fine. I didn't take it for maybe three weeks, and then I decided to be an idiot and take 6 of my 18 mg tablets about 4 days ago and I have been feeling really depressed and I am not sure what it is, I just really want it to end. Do any of you have any idea of what it could be?

John, you need to seek medical help right away. You overdosed the prescribed medication, you cannot "make it up" when you miss a dose and definetely not in the amount you did. What you experienced is a side effect of it. Please, call your doctor right away and explain your symptoms. Don't brush it off. All the best and keep us update.
If I tell a doctor would he be able to help my depression. I'm really worried.
