Quick Recipes With Few Ingredients

Unfortunately I do not have a lot to offer for this topic personally but I am personally in need of some different recipes that use few if any spices and a low number of perishable ingredients.

Billy's simply dirty rice:

2 lbs. white rice (dry)
1 small onion (diced)
1 lb lean ground beef
3 whole jalapeno peppers (diced)
* chives (optional - I rarely use much if any)
* black pepper and salt (added according to personal taste)
**(You may substitute bell peppers for jalapeno's if hot is not your style.)

Boil rice in deep saucepan. (drain)
Crumble and brown ground beef in skillet, add onion peppers to simmering meat, let simmer (covered) on low heat approx 8 minutes. add chives and pepper if you choose, Mix in saucepan with rice. Add 1/3 cup water (should cover just the bottom of pan to prevent overcooking rice.) Leave on low head uncovered to remove most water content . You may choose to mix and complete in crock pot for easy reheating and serving. Serves 4-6. Also serves as wonderful side dish to grilled beef tips or vegetable skewers.

Offtopic but,
Unfortunately Cherry would not eat this because of the onion and peppers. Let me know if anyone trys it. Possibly something that a newly married couple could cook for two or three people that is not too complicated. Cherry has few recipes and I have very few simple ones. I would greatly appreciate any ideas anyone could share.

Ingredients With Recipes Quick

One thing I like to do is take quick to cook items, and spicing them up in my own way. For instance, I have just tried something new a few minutes ago with Ramen Noodles, and I am in love with it.

Needed items:

Pack of Oriental Ramen Noodles
Brown Sugar
White Sugar
Soy Sauce (If you have it)

What you do:

Put a bit of water into a pan and put the noodles in. When the noodles begin to get soft, pour in half of the Oriental seasoning mix and mix together. Add in brown and white sugar and soy sauce to taste. Pour in rest of oriental seasoning if you desire.

It was easy and only took me about ten minutes. If you like noodles, then it's perfect.

Here is a neat dish that you can claim for your own:

Rak's Italian Shrimp Pasta

1 stick butter
1 package dry italian dressing mix
1 pound fresh, peeled and deveined shrimp
8-12 oz of angel hair pasta or preferred pasta
fresh grated Romano Cheese
(Optional) Fresh chiffonade of basil or oregano (for garnish on top)
salt and pepper to taste

Melt the butter in a wok or a large sauce pan.
Set water to boil in separate pot for noodles.
Saute the shrimp in the melted butter until just stating to turn pink.
Add italian seasoning, and turn down to a low medium low heat, cover.
Water should be boiling, place noodles in.
When noodles are done, so should the shrimp be. If you are checking temp, make sure the shrimp are at 145 degrees F.
Serve over drained pasta, and add garnish and grated cheese.

(Note: I have also tried this with Imitation crab meat, which turned out really well, but you might want to add extra butter to make up for the meat sucking up the butter.)

Quick Recipes With Ingredients

This is a quick recipe for a Mexican dessert. I have not yet had a chance to try it, but I will be attempting this week so I can make it for the girls at my center on Friday.

Ingrediants:

White sugar
Cinnimon
Tortilla shells

What you do:

Deep fry the tortilla shells until golden brown. As soon as you pull them out, pour the sugar and cinnimon over them.

There are very few ingrediants that you need, and it sounds absolutely yummy. As soon as I get paid on Thursday, I'm going to go buy the stuff to make them.

This one certainly sounds different!
Not many recipes in the Uk have cinnamon in them, because I don't think the taste is quite as popular as it is in the US.
My son absolutely adores anything cinnamon, so I will be trying this one for him.
Thanks for the recipe!
It sounds easy enough to make too, which in my opinion, is always good laugh.gif
