Bulbs Fluorescent

It is true when the CFL's blow they can cause a very bad smell and lots of heat. I have not read of any real issues from this but it should be kept in mind there is small amounts or mercury in these lights. As such the area where one is dropped or if it does the explosion on the end of its life needs to be cleaned thoroughly especially if you have small children or pets. Please also wear sidposable plastic clove also when doing this to prevent getting mercury on your own skin.

Rather off topic, but...
A better lighting technology that is starting off is LED lights. The R15(low voltage halogen lights) run at 15to30w and can be replaced with and led one that puts out same lumen's but runs at around 2 watts!
