Bully - Bullying - Bullies
Picked up a bully and body slammed him. Was he defending himself against a bully or taking matters into his own hands? What is your view?

Casey "the Punisher" speaks

The 15-year-old who picked up a bully and body slammed him to the ground has given his first interview since the video of the incident exploded on the internet. Casey became an overnight celebrity, inspiring many kids who have also been bullied. Articulate, smart and kind, Casey suffered so much he even contemplated suicide. Yet, many are also saying Casey should not be lionized for taking violent action. Who's right? Ref. Source 9

While I do not agree with the body slam that he placed upon the kid who was bullying him you have to hand it to him for stopping the bullying. This should send a nice clear message to all bullies out there. There is a limit to what some will put up with before they explode on you. Be wary of the meek they do bite.

Casey "the Punisher" Reviews Consumer & Travel Family Culture

When I was in elementary school, there was a kid that was on the heavy side and used to get picked on like Casey. As we were lining up to come back in from recess, a bully pushed him out of line. The kid got back up and started to get back in line when the bully punched him and told him to get his fat... To the end of the line. The kid said no...got slapped and punched a few more times until he started to cry. Then he snapped and jumped on the bully. He pinned him to the ground and give him a beating that he had never gotten to that point. The kid just couldn't stop punching him. It was kind of like the movie A Christmas Story. No one bullied him anymore, they all knew... He still did get verbally picked on, but WAY less.

In this situation, he had finally had enough of getting slapped and punched. His bucket was full that day after a few good slaps and punches. I dare say that if Casey wanted to jump on this kid and beat the bejesus out of him...there would have been little stopping him. Casey took control of his life this day. Hopefully, he is able to still contain the rage that caused him to snap, because I suspect it would get easier the next time after seeing the result.

I do have a few comments about what I saw...

Why is there a video that I can see on line? Whoever this kid is...they need to be suspended as well. We don't need the next Oliver Stone of between class beatdowns to be celebrated.

Why are there no teachers in this area during class switches or beginning or end of classes? Bullying occurs in every school. In my highschool, teachers were to be in specific areas during class switches to help prevent this exact thing. The administrators know where the dark corners are...get someone there and if you cant...get a camera.

Close Circuit Cams are not that expensive when compared to football uniforms or after school extra-curicular buses. When a kid's good day is just that he doesn't get slapped/punched, call profane (and he was being nice in not using it) and derogatory names and in general just ridiculed with no friends, notice that learning something new in school never made the "Good Day List".

This kid is actually lucky that all he got was a body slam when Casey finally snapped...just ask the community of Columbine. Of course, these kids had a bit more wrong with them, but how is a bully to know which one will just take the abuse and which one might not?

Name: Yeniseri
Country:

Comments: The boy who slammed his attacker was right in doing as he did! No person should allow another to abuse him and turn the other cheek! Hell No!
The victim showed patience but he needed to do as he did to show the bully that this behaviour was not acceptable.

Lack of adult supervision was evident in the video!

Australian video bully also claims victim status

The Sydney schoolboy who has become a focus of global bullying outrage says he was provoked into the schoolyard fight in which he was thrown heavily to the ground by a bigger, older student. Ref. Source 6

Now I do not know for a fact, but the body language in the video shows me the little bully felt pretty sure about his situation when he went after Casey. Meaning, I think he was putting on a show of bravado for his buddies (which is why it got taped) and knew they had his back. He got surprised by Casey's snapping and body slamming him pretty quickly. His buddies couldnt support and when the one did at the end...he didn't go nearly as far physically down the coridoor as he did verbally.

My guess is that his notoriety of getting his rear end handed to him has been a bit much and I honestly think he isn't quite telling the truth with the "get to class idiot" abuse claim...because if he doesnt come up with a good or plausible excuse...mom and dad will have lost a lot of trust in jr as well as the face he has lost with his classmates. Not to mention that you just KNOW mom and dad arent too thrilled with potentially having to find him another school, which could cost money and might be a good deal further way from their home and require them to drive him daily. I suspect that ways a bit heavy on jr's mind as well as the parents.

What is a fact is that the school has admitted that Casey had been bullied before. As far as this little bully, well, he doesnt seem to have a paper trail of bullying.

Vincenzo, the bully is claiming HE is a victim of bullying since second grade. laugh.gif I tell you, this is getting more ridiculous as time passes. Shame on the parents of the bully who don't seem to have a problem with what the boy was doing! Having said that, I think Casey was wrong but I believe he just snapped.

Two wrongs don't make a right. There is lots of blame to go around here, from society, parents, teachers, bad movies, bad games, bad music and on and on. Bullying isn't something new, its been around for a long time and will continue to happen so long as bullies can get away with what they do then they will continue to do their bullying. If they told the school teachers about the bullying and nothing happened then get the law involved or move your child to a different school.
